Born in the small town of Mount Airy, NC, “where everybody knows you
and will do anything for you,” Maddie was first introduced to
cheerleading at the age of four. She loved cheering at the little league
football games as a mascot. But when All Star Cheerleading showed up on
her radar, she knew she had found her calling. Maddie didn’t want to
wear the mascot uniform; she wanted to shine on the competition floor.
At the age of seven, Maddie went to Cheer Extreme and her love for
cheerleading developed into an all out passion. Never one to shy away
from hard work, Maddie dedicated her time and developed her talents with
the help of the Cheer Extreme Staff.
Maddie’s major accomplishments and memorable moments have revolved
around cheerleading. Maddie was a recognizable athlete for Cheer Extreme
for many years. During her three years on the L5 junior all girl team,
her team took first place at NCA All Star Nationals. Shortly thereafter
she was asked to join the Senior Elite L5 All Girl team. While a member
of this team, they were awarded three bronze medals, one silver medal
and two gold medals at the USASF World Championships. Maddie ended her
all-star career with a Gold Medal and Gold Scholarship from USASF at the
2012 World Championships..
Maddie was the cover girl for the December 2009 and June 2012 issue of
Cheerleading Magazine as well as Inside Cheerleading in June of 2012. In
March of 2012, Maddie became the “face of Fancy Face Cosmetics” as she
launched her own Maddie Collection. She has co-hosted the 2011 All
Levels Live Results Show on Varsity TV and has been a guest judge at
numerous cheer competitions.
Maddie is a leader. She takes on leadership roles not only with her
all star cheer team, but also with her school team where she cheered for
four years. She was captain of her high school team for three years.
Leadership does not stop at cheerleading for this young athlete as she
takes an active role in her community. Maddie has been an instructor at
the Ultimate Cheer Camp in Olso, Norway, where more than two hundred
kids from across Scandinavia attended the weekend long event. When she’s
not cheering, doing school work or operating her own cake baking and
decorating business, you’ll find Maddie volunteering at the local
hospital and participating in fund raisers for various charities and
organizations. She was an active member of her school’s student
government and Interact Service Club, serving as president of both.
Maddie is a self-proclaimed perfectionist, “I strive for excellence in
my school work and never settle for anything less than perfect in all
that I do.”
Maddie also made cheerleader history as the first every cheer athlete
to be represented by a sports management agreement. In the spring of
2012, Maddie signed a management contract with Proformance Sports
Marketing and Entertainment. Ex-Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and cheer
mogul, Cindy Villarreal, now represents Maddie. Since her management
deal, Maddie has appeared at major cheer events in Australia, Canada,
and North Carolina.
Maddie is currently attending the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill and is majoring in broadcast journalism. She is also a
member of the UNC Junior Varsity cheer team, where she continues her
passion and talent for cheer at the collegiate level. Aside from her
obvious determination and passion for cheerleading she attributes much
of her success to her friends and family. “My friends are awesome and I
have the greatest, most supportive family anyone could ask for. The
people I meet through cheerleading keep me motivated not only in my
sport but also in my life. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the
love and encouragement I have received from the people who surround me.”
